It is
never too early to start shopping for your dress.
Start by looking through some bridal magazines and get
an idea of the seasons trends and styles and find the
ones you like the best and that fit the theme of your
wedding. Bring the magazines to the shop with you,
go and try on several dresses to see which styles look
best on you. As with any other garment you shop
for, it always looks different on you than it does on
the rack. Not every beautiful gown will look great
on every bride and then some that may not look so good on the rack, may be the one that
is
perfect on you and makes you
feel the most like a bride ... so try on lots, it will
be fun.
You are not likely to find the
perfect dress right off the rack at the first shop you
go to. Once you do find the gown of your dreams, you
will have to be measured, fitted & the dress will most
often be special ordered. Then
when it comes in, it is likely to still need some
alterations
to have it fit you properly. This process can take several weeks
to several months in some cases. So shop early and give
yourself plenty of time. This is one of the few
days in your life where all eyes will be on you. You want to
look your best & feel like a princess, for a day at least!
Don't settle for something that's just "okay".

- Tip:
While it is very popular to photograph the bride from behind with the train
spread out and capturing the details of the dress, be sure your gown looks good
on you from all
angles and you feel comfortable in it.
Remember you will be in it for several hours! Sitting,
standing, dancing, etc... Also, don't forget to have the seamstress put in a bustle,
you do not want to be dragging the train all day and having
the groom and everyone else stepping all over it! And
Ladies, that
little loop that holds the train on the hanger at the bridal
shop is not a
bustle ;-)
