Here is another idea in addition to your
traditional gift registry:
Set up a gift registry
with your photographer! The
easiest way to do it is to have cards made up that let your
guests know
you
are registered with your photographer and have the
photographers contact info on it and be sure to include your
name as well. Many photographers would probably give
you these cards for free. Then your friends and family
would call in or send in monetary gifts that would build up
a credit for you with the photographer. You could use
this credit to pay on your account or add more pictures
and further upgrades after the wedding! This is
great for those that haven't much need for toasters,
coffee makers, china, or other traditional wedding
gifts. You know what they say, everyone loves
pictures, especially wedding pictures! Everyone
will want to see your album and then they will want
pictures too. Regardless of what you spend on your
photography package upfront, you are still likely to
need and want more after the wedding. In a recent
pole of local brides and photographers, we
found that 80% of brides (and her family) ordered
anywhere from $200 - $800
or more in additional albums, frames
prints on top of the original
photography package they booked before the wedding.
Another idea:
If you and your groom are not in need of much of anything, you could
have your
guests donate to your favorite charity on your
behalf instead of the traditional wedding gifts!
Whatever you do for the registry it is often considered
bad etiquette to mention the registry in the actual
wedding invitation. It is best to spread the word
via friends and family, and/or put up a personal wedding
website. Local brides can
